Reliable Technical Information available when and where it is needed

Over the last 20 years, we have consistently found that inadequate Technical Information and related procedures cause delays in the construction and operational activies of new assets or plants, leading to needless expenditure on inventory, engineering, procurement and maintenance ultimitely leading to shutdowns. This costs you as an owner and operator millions of dollars every year. To significantly improve the efficient handling of Technical Information we have developed SHAREcat. SHAREcat has the ability to collect, validate and deliver both technical data and documents, making all technical information available when and where it is needed. SHAREcat implementation has minimal impact on existing work processes and is provided as a SaaS Cloud based application which does not affect or replace your, or your main contractor’s existing IT systems.

Design

In the early stages of a project, information is a deliverable. Securing the required quality, cost and schedule for the delivery of accurate information and the ability to reuse this information “as is” for later stages of the project and other projects, can be a challenge.

Procure and Construct

The procurement and construction phases of an asset development generates around 70% of the total number of documents in a development project. Information originates from multiple contractors and suppliers. You as an Operator do not typically review all this information, but controlling the progress and quality of the information through these phases is critical as the information created is key for the following phases; construction, commissioning, maintenance planning and operations. Deviations from specifications in information gathered during procurement will influence quality, cost and scheduling in a negative way.

Commissioning

Providing services for Commissioning is a very critical project phase, when customer’s assets are tested and approved for production. Frequently information for Operations-, Installation- and Maintenance Instructions and spare part information, is late or missing. Having to search for and expedite information by the commissioning team can cause serious delays in commissioning start up procedures and commissioning itself with the associated increase in cost

Hand over

Greenfield or implementation stages of a project are typically very focused on the project needs, costs and a schedule which drives a prioritisation of information needed at that time. Information required for operational stages of the project normally have “second priority”. This typically leads to a significant effort to collect missing information as well as restructuring the project information to meet the requirements and needs from engineers and others involved in operational activities. Production cannot start with major gaps in the information required for operations. The effort to fill the gaps represents a significant cost and puts the project schedule at risk.

Operate and maintain

The Operations phase is the longest phase of an asset’s life. One of the biggest challenges is to operate and maintain a safe environment in a cost-effective manner. In order to do this it is essential to have easy access to reliable information about installed equipment and spare parts, their physical location, and where and how to replace the equipment.

Modify

Modifying your existing assets while in production can be a challenge due to poor accessibility to, or lack of, information about the equipment and parts. Your modification service providers will typically spend up to 40% of their time looking for information before they can embark the change itself. In addition, you will have ongoing documentation deliveries from your suppliers, which, if not managed correctly, will result in futher poor and missing information being delivered.

Decommissioning

A decommissioning project is challenging in terms of regulations, planning and execution. The combination of old, undocumented equipment and a large number of documents to be simultaneously processed, often result in delays and extra costs. Effective planning requires effective tools.
